Here we go.
Maxum has used CJR as the prime vender for the propellers on our boats. This is not to say that this what you have, this is a boat and anything could have happened. The CJR props were ordered as NIBRAL, Ultra Skew, .75 BAR, Rake 0, Skew 28. Owners have reported having trouble with vibration when having their props sent to the "Prop Shop" from rebalancing, these propeller cannot be trued on standard Michigan prop blocks! They are completely different, and can be ruined if this is attempted. I have had my props done 4 times, using propscan machines, and via older vibration balancers. All without getting back a bad set. Others have not been as lucky.
Please remember to look at the "Graphs" section of our webpage for additional performance data.
This is a CJR Ultraskew .75 propeller

Ultraskew .75 for luxury motor yachts and any high performance craft
where low noise and vibration are essential DAR 75%, Rake 0, Skew 28

Michigan Wheel is @ http://www.miwheel.com
Propeller Terms and Definations:
24 x 22 means, 24" Diameter, 22" Pitch.
NiBrAl, or NIBRAL, stands for Nickel, Bronze, Aluminum & Manganese Bronze, a very hard strong and non deforming material.
BAR and DAR are the same thing. BAR is Blade Area Ratio, and is also referred to as DAR, Disc Area Ratio, a circle has a BAR of 1.0, take a 10% wedge out of it and it reduces the BAR to .90. In the case of the above propellers, the BAR is .75% of a full circle.
Rake: Rake can be positive or negative tilting of the blade fore aft, typically used in racing, or confined tunnels, there is no rake in our propellers.
Skew: Skew is the transverse sweeping of a blade such that viewing the blade from the fore and aft shows an asymmetrical shape. Skewing allows the blade tips to contact the passing water in a more progressive and evenly distributed power slice, thus reducing Vibration and increasing efficiency.
Over Pitched, can cause you to be slow to get on plane, excessive cavitation, improper engine RPM.
Under Pitched, great low end performance, inability to get achieve you boat Max speed, improper engine RPM

450 HP, Cummins Engines, 430 SAE HP

The Data Below is for a 4600 SCB

The actual propeller supplied by Maxum was a 24x22 NIBRL Ultra Scew,
.75 BAR, Rake 0, Skew 28, made by CJR Propeller in England.
We have 24x22 Propellers and here are our on the water results
Actual Cruise @ 2400 RPM has been @ 24 MPH, 20.8 knots
Actual WOT @ 2600 RPM has been @ 29 MPH, 25.18 knots
Convert from Knots to MPH (x1.15)
Convert from MPH to Knots (x.868)
The above data says, we could go slightly faster, @ 22.2 pitch
especially @ cruising speed, remember that this is just a formula to get you into a ballpark.
It gives you an estimation of results based on your inputed data,
and it uses some general assumptions reguarding hull form etc.
But, if I do bang up my props perhaps, I will repitch to 22.2, or 22.5 I'll let you know the results.
Above data supplyed by Jim Clausen, 4600 SCB Master Mariner.

4100 SCB Prop Sizing

Subject: Maxum owners group
Jim,
Thanks for the information on the website. I have a question about my
propeller sizing that I might get help from other boat owner. I have a 1999
Maxum 41 SCB, owned since new, I have 330 Cummins and are swinging 24x23 4
bladed props. My max speed is about 19 knots. A friend of mine have the
identical setup in a 41 SCA and does 2-3 knots faster swinging 24x26 4 bladed
props. Has anyone tried different props on the 41 SCB to give me any
feedback.
Thanks
Robert Tufts
