Subject: Thoughts On Beaching?

I have a new 2900SCR and am wondering what y'all think about beaching it? I have it on Lake Lanier in Georgia. Lots of sandy beaches. My buddies all beach their boats regularly, but the marine mechanic at a hull repair shop here says nothing could be worse.

One of the fun things to do on Lanier is to go ashore on one of the many islands. This is easier if you're just stepping off the boat. However, if I'm going to ruin the thing, I'll find another way.

What do you do?
